Is it possible to have a Heavy Cruiser class between the cruiser and capital ship size?

An idea for a new class of ship more powerful than cruisers but not as powerful as supercapital ships. 

These ships would require crew and could be skilled up as well as still needing special material to build. But would only be able to take on half the work of capital ships. Half the hitpoints.
