Adding more Item Slots for Starbases, Titans, Capitalships or Planets

I want to make a mod to better personalize Capitalships/Titans/Starbases and Planets. Sadly when I try it with more than 8 Slots for Ships, ... it doesn't work. Does anyone know how it can be changed?
